What we do, and why it matters.

An underground utility contractor based in Mississauga, working across the Greater Toronto Area.

The work we do is invisible once it is finished. That is the point.

Bjerno Utility Services Inc. is an underground utility contractor. We install, replace, repair, and locate the buried infrastructure that buildings, sites, and municipal systems depend on — watermains and services, sanitary and storm sewer, gas distribution, electrical duct banks, and communications conduit.

Utility work is unforgiving. A trench that is backfilled badly will settle in two winters. A joint that is not bedded correctly will fail under load. A locate that is off by half a metre will be found by an excavator bucket. There is no cosmetic fix for any of it — the work is either right the first time or it comes back.

We organize the company around that reality: small crews, experienced supervision, clear documentation of every installation, and locates that are recorded accurately enough to be trusted years later. Our clients are general contractors, developers, property managers, and municipalities. Our projects are not published; the infrastructure is.

0.6–2.4 m Install depth · Services

Five classes of buried service.

Installation, repair, replacement, and locate — coordinated with the other utilities in the same trench.
Class 01 · BlueWater

Watermain & water services

Municipal watermain installation and replacement, building services, valve and hydrant work, tie-ins, chlorination and pressure testing, and restoration of the affected surface.

Class 02 · GreenSewer

Sanitary & storm sewer

Gravity sewer mains and laterals, maintenance holes and catch basins, bedding and backfill to specification, CCTV inspection, and trenchless rehabilitation where open cut is not viable.

Class 03 · YellowGas

Gas distribution

Gas main and service installation in coordination with the distributing utility, trench preparation, bedding, warning tape and tracer wire, and inspection support through to acceptance.

Class 04 · RedElectric

Electrical duct banks

Duct bank and conduit installation for hydro and site power, concrete encasement, pull pits and handholes, separation from other services, and as-built records for future locates.

Class 05 · OrangeComms

Communications conduit

Telecom and fibre conduit, vaults, and building entrances. Installed with the clearances, bend radii, and pull points that the carriers will actually accept at commissioning.

Support · All classesLocates

Locates & records

Pre-dig locate coordination through Ontario One Call, private locate of site services, and as-built depth and alignment records handed to the owner at closeout.

Method How we work

Four rules we do not bend.

Most of this work is decided before the first bucket of soil comes out.
0.6 m

Locate before you dig

Every job starts with a valid locate and, where site conditions require it, a private locate of services the public record does not cover. No excavation begins without one. This is not paperwork — it is the single highest-consequence step in the work.

1.2 m

Bedding decides the lifespan

Pipe and conduit fail from what surrounds them far more often than from what flows through them. We bed, compact, and backfill to specification and we do not substitute native soil where granular bedding is called for.

1.8 m

Record what you buried

Depth, alignment, material, and offsets are recorded as installed — not reconstructed from memory at closeout. Good records are what make the next excavation on that site safe, whether by us or by someone else.

2.4 m

Restore to match

Compaction testing, surface restoration, and cleanup are part of the scope, not an afterthought. A utility installation that leaves a settled trench or a patched surface behind is not finished work.
